Alpine Flowers of the Beartooth

Phlox
About 3 weeks ago we went to the Beartooth Wilderness Area.  There were vast fields of wild flowers covering 100s of acres. At night no light blemished the vast fields of stars.  This is God's country.

At almost 11,000 feet, the Beartooth Highway is one of the most highest passes in America.  Most of the flowers up there are smaller then a penny.  And there is not a tree in sight.  All you can seen vast meadows of yellow, orange, pink and blue in a nest of green.

God taught me a lesson with the little alpine flowers.  This can good even when they are small.

If you are just driving you are driving by at 60 mph, all it looks like is a blur of green.  But when you get out, and get on your knees, you can see all the little blessings there that God planted there for you and me.

Blooming

When a person grows up in Jesus, his life starts to bloom.  It gets prettier and prettier.  Jesus is the gardener, and we're His little flowers.  He planted us in the place He wants us to be.

Our life may have been more like a thistle, covered with spines and thorns, but with Jesus the spines and thorns will disappear, and we will begin to bloom like a beautiful garden flower.

We begin to take on the fragrance of the Lord and the beauty and color a lovely blossom.

God has given us a great lesson from the flower; growing, blooming, and being quite happy where ever they are planted.

Have you ever seen a flower complaining about where it was planted?  I haven't.  We shouldn't complain about circumstances in our life, even if they are hard.

God has a plan.  He has promised to take care of us and to help us bloom in him.

Are you blooming today?

My Little Miracles

When I was about 4 or 5, I love Marigolds.  But there was one little difficulty. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't pronounce their name correctly.  I called them, "Miracles!"

Miracle is a fitting name for any flower, for in truth, it is a miracle.  The metamorphosis between a seed and and a plant, a plant and a flower is truly a miracle, for no matter how hard man tries, they can't make life from a pile of screws and bolts, or a blob of lifeless plastic.  Only our Creator, our loving God, can make anything grow.  And what an astounding job He did with the miracle of the Marigold.

What would we do without God?

How Great Thou Art!

Take a walk in nature.  Gaze around you.  What do you see?
Flowers, rainbows, sunsets, creatures of all kinds.

One thing is apparent to me: Our God is so great!

O Lord My God! when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the works thy hands have made,
I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder,
Thy pow'r thro'-out the universe displayed,

Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee;
How great thou art, how great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee;
How great Thou art, How great thou art!

When thro' the woods and forest glades I wander
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;
When i look down from lofty mountain grandeur
And her the brook and feel the gentle breeze;

Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee;
How great thou art, how great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee;
How great Thou art, How great thou art!

And when I think that God, His son not sparing,
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the cross,my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and tied, to take away my sin;

Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee;
How great thou art, how great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee;
How great Thou art, How great thou art!

When Christ shall come with shout of acclamatation
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration
And there proclaim, My God, how great Thou art!

Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee;
How great thou art, how great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee;
How great Thou art, How great thou art!

Tendrils

Let me tell you a story...  I was down at our creek one day, talking to our nice old neighbor man.  I noticed some bindweed.  There was just one little problem: it was wrapped right around itself.  It was not pointing up and reaching higher.  Instead, the poor little vine was helplessly flopped down on the ground.  One sick looking flower lay wilting in the sun, likely to be trampled.
A few days later I visited the pea beds in our garden.  I noticed, they weren't flopped down on the ground.  These pea vines had wrapped their tendrils around the solid wire.  They are bearing many delicious peas to this day--we even had some for lunch!

What about us?  Are we wrapping our tendrils around ourselves, our friends, our possessions?  Or are we clinging to the good solid wire of God's word?

Hmmm.... Where are my tendrils?

My apologies for all the new changes.  I think I'm satisfied...
